Outcomes and impact are key factors in measuring the success of development programmes. Given the considerable challenges that often confront communities in overcoming poverty, the focus on these issues often lead to achievements not being sufficiently acknowledged, nor persons recognised for their efforts in making a difference. The documentation of success stories has become important in raising hope, promoting success role models, and in demonstrating that IT CAN BE DONE. We attribute success to sheer determination, hard work, unwavering commitment, a positive vision and growing fearlessness to tackle problems - to be victors, rather than victims of increased socio-economic pressure and marginalisation.
